What is WordPress Maintenance
Old, outdated software is second only to weak passwords in giving hackers a backdoor in to your site.
Website maintenance is the ongoing process of keeping your wordpress pages, plugins, photos and database securely backed up, up to date, regularly scanning for malware and other vulnerabilities, along with other ongoing technical steps.
We go one step further, and provide all-inclusive plans so you never need to worry about missing a domain renewal notice, or forgetting your hosting password again. Our maintenance plans INCLUDE your hosting, domain renewals AND ongoing premium plugin licenses. No one else does that!
I already have a website, can you maintain it for me?
This depends! Please contact us and we’ll run an audit on your website to see if we are able to cover your site.
We support self-hosted WordPress sites ONLY. We do not support websites built on any other CMS, or sites hosted on WordPress.com. If your site is built on Wix, Squarespace or another platform, talk to us about a migration to WordPress (its the best!).
How well we can fix issues on your WordPress site depends on the theme you have installed. Free themes often come with limitations that may prevent us from editing code if required, so contact us to review.
Can you maintain my website hosted somewhere else?
We cannot offer our full guarantees on external hosting servers. Things like page load speeds, automated server backups, SSL etc are dependent on the quality of your hosting plan. We can offer limited maintenance plans if you would like to keep your current host until it expires – contact us to confirm if your host is suitable.
We do offer free website migrations if you’d like to move your site though!
It is also important to note that we work exclusively with WordPress, so if your site is built on something else we are not your people!
I have custom plugins on my site, can you still maintain it?
If you have custom software, apps or plugins on your website that were developed specifically for you (and are not receiving regular updates from the plugin developers) we cannot provide any guarantee your website will continue to run optimally with future versions of WordPress and other plugins. In this situation, you may periodically need your custom plugin developer to make changes to work with newer versions of WordPress.
What if I cannot reach my developer?
We would need to assess this on a case-by-case scenario to establish if our developers are able to take on these custom plugins. It may be more time-efficient to rebuild, or they may be able to make the code tweaks required to keep it all working. Please book in a call with us to discuss.
What if I get hacked or break something myself?
If your site ‘breaks’ or is hacked, then we will immediately begin work to repair it. If the repair doesn’t work, we will restore a backup of the site from within the last 48 hours and work to harden your website against future attacks.
If you’re editing your website and make a mistake, we are able to restore that page to a previous version no problem at all. If the change you were trying to make can be resolved in 30 mins or less, we will do it for you no extra charge.
Any additional support is billed at our usual hourly rate (with discounts depending on your plan level).
What premium plugins are included?
We have ongoing agency licenses for a select number of premium WordPress plugins that we offer all maintenance plan clients included in your monthly fee. These include;
- Elementor Pro $84 USD/year
- Gravity Forms $59 USD/year
- Flying Press $49 USD/year
That’s a combined saving of more than $300 AUD in just these three!
We also have contact with several WordPress plugin developers and are often aware of special rates, discounts or offers which we will wholeheartedly share with you whenever needed.

What if I need more resources than the Shop+ plan?
If your site is highly active and receives a lot of traffic or is very heavy on resource consumption, contact us for a quote and custom plan to suit your needs.
Do the wordpress maintenance plans come with any guarantees?
Having a site maintenance plan in place does not guarantee your website will not be hacked. Even the most robust online security platforms cannot guarantee that (hello Optus in 2022). However maintaining the software on your website does dramatically reduce the likelihood of a successful hacking attempt. And by keeping a regular backup schedule, we ensure that should something go wrong, we can quickly restore a version of your site without losing data.
Will I be locked into a contract?
No! You are free to cancel your WordPress Maintenance services at any time, although we have no idea why anyone would want to do that. Seriously.
WordPress maintenance plans are billed on a monthly basis, which you can cancel, or upgrade/downgrade at any time.
What happens if I want to cancel the maintenance plan but keep my hosting?
you wish to cancel your maintenance plan but keep your wordpress hosting only, send us an email (cancellation request in writing) and we will downgrade your account to a hosting-only plan. The last manual backup made will remain in your DirectAdmin account, however keep in mind that this will not be kept up to date, and you should continue to take manual updates in addition to the daily automated backups.
What happens if I want to cancel the maintenance plan and move to another hosting provider?
No problems, no hard feelings!
If you would like to move house completely, you will need to arrange this with your new team. We can provide you DirectAdmin login details to migrate your website files, and keep your account with us open as long as you need it. Once you confirm you are done, we will close your account and delete your website and email files from our servers (which is permanent with no backups so make sure you’re sure you have it all sorted first!)
Please note that we include select premium plugins in your hosting account, so if you move you will need to either create your own account with all paid plugin providers (including Elementor Pro) or, subscribe to these via our client portal to continue to use these and receive updates.
